June Chairmans Update
There have been two shows since I last wrote to you, both of which were extremely
successful. The April show was the last at Brooksby for our winter season, we shall
be returning there in October. Thanks goes to Fran and Chris Dean for yet another
well run show. The May show saw the start of our summer season and also the beginning
of a new relationship with Blaby Mill. Viv Evans ran a very good show for us, so thanks
goes to her and also to Linda for her kindness in allowing us to use her facilities,
and excellent they are too. Our usual caterer from Brooksby has also agreed to provide
his services at Blaby too, so don't worry about lunch, you can get a good bacon
butty on site.
While I'm talking about Blaby Mill please note that it is requested by the owner
that we have
no dogs at the shows, and also that we enter the venue by
Church Street. One last point please respect the hoof picking out rules as Linda is
constantly improving and upgrading her facilities and it helps to maintain the
standard of the surfaces.
Don't forget that we have introduced a veteran points trophy for the end of the
summer season,
so don't forget to indicate on your entry form if your horse
is 15 years or over.
Please note that there was a printing error on the
June schedule the Novice test
is now Novice 23 and not as printed.
The committee have now decided to use competitor numbers at future shows as it makes it
much easier to steward and also we can learn new members names quicker too, well try to.
The committee also decided that it would be a good opportunity to make all the tests
60 metres during the summer season as there is a full 60 metre arena at Blaby, and we
thought that it would give everyone the chance to have a go at the big arena tests without
any distractions, like the caravan at Brooksby. The 60 metre arena give young horses far
more room and there is more time between movements so give them a go and see what you think.
The training is still on going if any one is interested please don't hesitate
to contact me, I'll always try to be accommodating. Spencer Wilton comes twice
a month, as does Clair Gordon, and Jorge Periera usually comes for three days on a
monthly basis, see the
training page
for full details.
Helen Trivett is organising an extra show to the ones in the summer schedule, see separate
sheet for full details. It is an evening show to be held at the Atherstone Riding Club
Ground at Upton on
Wednesday 23
rd July, 6pm start
.
This is a dressage with jumping competition.
Finally congratulations to all the members and trainers who made it to the winter finals
at Solihull, a special mention has to go to Mary Jo Crawford for winning the Pet Plan Area
Festival Final at Elementary level on Class Act, well done. Let me know who has qualified
for the summer regionals and also the riding clubs areas too. You can Email me via our
web site, and don't forget if you have anything to sell Steve will happily put it
on the site too.
I look forward to seeing you during the summer I hope you all have a good one.
